Former Eagles Player Says Carson Wentz Never Listened To The Coaches

NFL fans were almost treated to a Carson Wentz game on Saturday when the Kansas City Chiefs took on the Houston Texans since Patrick Mahomes left the team’s win over the Cleveland Browns the previous week with a high-ankle sprain, but Mahomes toughed it out and played on Saturday to leave Wentz on the bench.

It would have been a treat to see if Wentz had improved during his time in KC, but one former Philadelphia Eagles teammate apparently would not have enjoyed it.

During the week, he took some time to rip Wentz for his time in Philly.

In a TikTok shared by ECSportsz, former running back Darren Sproles appeared on “The 25/10 Show” hosted by DeSean Jackson and LeSean McCoy and said that Wentz didn’t listen to coaches when he was with the Eagles, noting, “I was used to playing with quarterbacks, they throw the check down. Now, with him, he liked throwing it to the tight end. That was his comfort zone. He didn’t listen to coaching either, though. I think at the end of the day, he was a good player, I just think he never really reached his peak.”

Sproles said he always told Wentz that he was wide open in the flats on certain plays, but Wentz preferred checking down to his tight ends.

Wentz had some strong statistical years in Philly but never lived up to the hype of being a No. 2 overall pick.

These are some heavy accusations by Sproles, but if it’s true, hopefully, Wentz will learn to be more coachable and will have a renaissance at some point soon, like Baker Mayfield or Sam Darnold.
