The Minnesota Vikings have a great problem on their hands right now.
The quarterback they signed to be either a stopgap or a temporary solution at the position has turned out to be great.
That’s why they need to figure out what to do with Sam Darnold.
According to a report by Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports, both parties are interested in extending their partnership.

Of course, the Vikings didn’t intend for J.J. McCarthy to sit on the bench for long, but given how Darnold has played, he believes he could become something like Jordan Love with the Green Bay Packers.
Jones reports that the Vikings would likely have to get into a bidding war to keep Darnold, but Darnold must also be selective about his next destination.
This makes perfect sense, as Darnold had struggled mightily in his career before having this breakout season under Kevin O’Connell’s tutelage.
That would also allow the Vikings to be patient with their first-round pick.
Needless to say, that’s not particularly great news for the former Michigan star, but we’ve also seen several quarterbacks struggle right out of the gate because they’re not ready.
He couldn’t do much this season because of his major injury.
The Vikings have some serious decisions to make in the offseason.
One thing is for sure, however, and it is that Darnold has played his way into a big-money contract.
Whether it’s with the Vikings or another team remains to be seen.
