Nick Wright Predicts How Much 49ers Will Offer Brock Purdy In Contract

Over the last two years, a number of star quarterbacks across the NFL have received massive contract extensions, some of which have reset the market, and the San Francisco 49ers’ Brock Purdy will soon become the latest to do so.

Coming into this season, it was widely expected he would get approximately $55-60 million a year, but those projections have fallen somewhat since his stats are down a bit and his team has stumbled to a 6-9 record.

In particular, he has struggled in his last five games, and it led Nick Wright to say on Fox Sports 1’s “First Things First” that the Niners will make Purdy a “cursory” offer of $100 million over three years and that he hasn’t made a good last impression lately.

Purdy was outstanding last season, but his touchdown percentage, completion percentage and yards per game are down this year.

On the other hand, the Niners have had a massive rash of injuries throughout their roster, including on their offensive line, and therefore there has been a revolving door as far as which key offensive starters have been available to play.

Interestingly, Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs, who is still arguably the game’s best QB in a vacuum, has put up numbers this season that are only marginally better than Purdy’s numbers.

Purdy is just 24 years of age, so he likely has room for improvement in terms of refining certain things in his game.

In addition, if he accepts a somewhat more modest extension this offseason, it could be a blessing in disguise for San Francisco, as it would make it a lot easier for them to maintain and improve the rest of their core.
